My research studies the interaction between fiscal and monetary policy, with a focus on the strategic foundations of price-level determination and the fiscal theory of the price level. A second strand examines optimal taxation under heterogeneity, financial frictions, and time inconsistency — including the political economy of capital taxation and institutional design.
